| MPP è un'iniziativa del Consorzio ELIS e della Cedel nata nel 1997, evoluta nel sistema Mediateca-ELIS nel 2000. La direzione del progetto è di Michele Crudele. HP è stato il primo sponsor al quale si sono aggiunte aziende di primaria importanza, come Telecom Italia. |
MPP has been running by Consorzio ELIS and Cedel since 1997. In 2000 it was superseded by Mediateca-ELIS. The project manager is Michele Crudele. HP has been the first sponsor; later other major companies have joined their efforts to support MPP, mainly Telecom Italia. |

MPP defined the metodology and software tools in order to set up a video on-demand system (like a juke-box of digitized videotapes), which can be used via the Internet with a plain modem, or using a CD. |
| La tecnologia usata è lo streaming video della RealNetworks, associata a una speciale implementazione per l'interfaccia MPP. Una complessa struttura di database gestisce tutte le informazioni (metadata) associate a ogni lezione, inclusi test di autovalutazione e dispense. |
The streaming video technology by RealNetworks in a special implementation is the heart of the MPP interface. A complex database contains all the metadata associated to each lesson, including self evaluating tests and printable material. |

The Consorzio Nettuno decided not to continue the experimental activity and did not authorize the downloading of the video lessons or the diffusion of the CD-ROM which has been produced with the same content. |
